Koma Fasiledes a place where the history of king Fasiledes begins - Koma Fasiledes church was built by the wife of king Susenyos and the mother of king Fasil of Gondar,whose name

was queen Woldseala in south Gondar zone, in Estie Woreda 52 km south of Mekane Eyesus ,the capital of the woreda .

King Susenyos’s untraditionally to Catholic annoyed his wife queen woldseala ,she left and went south wards with certain monks to found the present Koma Fasiledes. The queen named her son, king fasil ,after the name of the church .she wished him to be like saint Fasiledes. Following the wish and blessing of his mother king Fasil restored the orthodox religion to retain an official religion of Ethiopia as it used to be.

The current existence of Crown, Spare and gun in the church, which accounts to be the possession of king Fasil are an evidence of the presence of close contact of the king with koma Fasiledes.

Birruadege is other interesting place, 6 km from Fasiledes church is found a dilapidated building on the top of a small Hill and the church father s are saying that this building is the remnant of a church built before Koma Fasiledes.

Birruadege is founded in afforested valley on the north side, by even land on the southern and by rugged area on the western side. The Birruadege building has a very thick wall standing with no natural or human protection .one door and one window one still seen.

The queen left the church on Birrudege and ordered the construction of the church at the new sitein Koma because of the miracle happened on an ox to be slaughtered for the ceremony prepared to the accomplishment of the construction of church at birrudege.

Generally there are many interesting antiquities in koma faciledes. One is the negarit (dish shaped drum) which cannot be moved by not less than three persons. The negarit is called “Yesma Koma “(let the people of Koma hear) The designs of the top part of the pillars are miraculously shaped, how the carpenters shaped them is beyond one’s conception .pictures on the wall are very flowery. One specialty of the church that it is the only place where church school students specialize in the kind of church song known as “kome” Every year, before about 5 days of the yearly festivals on September 5 E.C swarm of white bees come and settle on the roof of the church .After the calibration the bees disappear making sure to return the following year.
